Everybody's Child at SMHAFF

14/10/2014

Aconite’s production Everybody’s Child was an official selection for the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival this Autumn.

The film played to a full house at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh last night and was very well received.

After the film we held a Q&A hosted by Richard Warden with director Garry Fraser, producer Aimara Reques, and child abuse specialist Madge Bray. Madge has worked internationally in child abuse and pioneered treatment approaches, and is the author of Sexual Abuse: The Child’s Voice: Poppies on the Rubbish Heap.

The audience was very perceptive and we had a good debate about social services for young people. Garry argues that young people with addiction and social issues must get involved in art projects, rather than being enrolled into methadone programmes, and this became a topic of interest.

Audience members also asked if the film will be made available to local politicians and Parliament, and Aconite will be working to raise social awareness of the film.

If you are interested in spreading the word about Everybody’s Child and its message, we will be happy to help. Please email us via our contact page.

Everybody’s Child is currently available through the iTunes store. Click here to find out more and to download the film.

This project was made possible thanks to financial support from Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.
