’15 in Gaza’ broadcast today
We are very pleased that our film, ’15 in Gaza’ is showing on Al Jazeera English today, Tuesday 11th February at 0330 GMT and tomorrow Wednesday 12th February at 1630 GMT as part of the Witness series.
Directed by Wesam Mousa and Rana Ayoub, the film is an intimate story revealing an insight into the life of a young girl, Shurooq Mousa in Deir El-Balah, near Gaza City as she prepares for her 15th birthday. In her community this means womanhood, being ready for marriage, wearing the abaya and no more playing with friends in the street. Shorouq is an intelligent, creative girl who can be rebellious and is not ready to face womanhood as war rages around her. It is a touching human story that puts us in touch with the meaning of ‘adulthood’ and the paradoxes associated with it.
Special thanks to:
Shurooq Mousa, Mai Mazeed and families and the people of Gaza.
