It is truly an important time for Scottish feature documentary industry; so many Scottish productions have traveled prestigious festivals this year - Time Trial, Freedom Fields, and even our own AQUARELA. In light of this, Aimara Reques of Aconite Productions joined a panel discussion with Mandy Chang (BBC Storyville / Commisioning Editor), Emma Simpson (Journeyman Pictures / Company Manager) and David Harron (BBC Scotland / Executive Commissioner) and it was hosted by Sonja Henrici of Scottish Documentary Institute.

The event was organised by FOCUS in collaboration with Scottish Documentary Institute. During the panel, several topics were discussed, including:

• How to grow your idea for a documentary
• Pitching your idea to commissioning editors
• Different funding options
• Advice on distribution, marketing and networking
• The future of documentary-making: how to seize the opportunities digital technology has to offer
