We have had an incredibly busy year and with Christmas and the New Year approaching rapidly, we have just enough time to wish everybody a wonderful and very happy winter holiday when it arrives.

AQUARELA

We are delighted that our flagship project, AQUARELA, directed by Victor Kossakovsky, begins production early next year.  The film takes us on an epic journey around the world, at the heart of which is the majestic element:WATER. Thanks to Creative Scotland; British Film Institute; Danish Film Institute; Sundance Film Institute; Tribeca Film Institute; Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung(MDM); Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg (MBB); RBB TV as well as to our private investors: Cactus World Films and our incognito investor in the UK. Also in the New Year we’ll announce our major sales partner in Los Angeles.

BRASILIA: LIFE AFTER DESING (BLAD):

Directed by admired filmmaker Bart Simpson (The Corporation; Big Boys Gone Bananas) is completing post-production in Glasgow, thanks to the participation of award winning editor Colin Monie. Produced by Lucie Tremblay of Lowik Media (Canada) and co-produced by Aimara Reques  (Aconite), BLAD will be released in spring 2016. In Scotland this project is being supported by Creative Scotland.

ELECTRIC MALADY

Directed by talented Marie Liden, EM is a documentary film and combined interactive experience that explores what it means to suffer from the controversial illness Electrosensitivity. This is a co-production with Lowik Media in Canada and in the new year we’ll announce our co-production partner in Sweden. Our co-production partners for the interactive platform are Up Creatives and Unit 9 in London. This film recently pitched at Dok:Leipzig, where it received fantastic support. More to be announced in the New Year. Thanks to Creative Scotland for supporting the development of this project.

THE BOY FROM GEORGIA

Directed and produced by our MD Aimara Reques is a poignant story that reveals the human capacity to fight against all the odds. The extraordinary journey of a charismatic young boy, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible until eventually becoming a strong, determined and talented young man. Thanks to the support of the Scottish Documentary Institute we have entered the post-production facet of this project. Thanks also to Creative Scotland and CH4 for supporting the development of this project.

We will also have information in the new year about some new projects.

Since Aconite Productions started to trade four years ago, this has, by far, been our busiest year.  As we continue to expand we will undoubtedly be bigger and busier in the years to come.
